Heritage Talk: Greetings of the Season

As 2025 draws to a close, Heritage Co-Ordinator, Joseph Lewis looks back via the South Somerset Heritage Collection, for a glimpse of Christmas past.

From the Ice Carnival on the River Yeo accompanied by ice skates of the time to the fondly-remembered Denners Department Store Christmas Window Displays from the 1960s to the 1980s and the World’s Biggest Shirt Competition! We also take a look inside the Plummers’ Store Christmas Displays and enjoy the traditional role of the Christmas Pantomime from the Princes Theatre, to the Johnson Hall and the Octagon to Westlands Entertainment Venue.
