Award winning Yeovil Amateur Operatic Society return to Westlands stage for Oklahoma!
Set in Indian territory at the turn of the century when cattlemen and farmers were fighting over fences and water rights. In the middle of that controversy are two more rivalries. One between a cowboy called Curly and a hired hand named Jud, both in love with Laurey. The second involves Ado Annie, Will Parker and Ali Hakim, a trio that will provide plenty of laughs.
Oklahoma! is the first musical written by the duo of Rodgers and Hammerstein, based on Lynn Riggs' 1931 play, Green Grow the Lilacs. One of the most influential musicals ever, Oklahoma! is credited with telling a story united by all aspects of performance. The lyrics, music and dances all advance the story; audiences and critics loved it and wanted more! Featuring wonderful melodies - Oh What a Beautiful Morning, The Surrey with the Fringe on Top, People Will Say We're in Love, I Can't Say No, Oklahoma! and many more, making this a musical treat for all the family.
