Charlie Higson

Charlie Higson is a comedian and actor who is co-creator and star of the hugely successful comedy series The Fast Show. He is the author of the bestselling Young Bond books and the incredibly successful horror series The Enemy, as well as five adult crime thrillers.

Charlie fell in love with Bond aged 7 when he saw Thunderball in the cinema and knows Bond inside and out — not only are the Young Bond books the most commercially successful Bond novels since Ian Fleming, he's been sent overseas by the BBC to stay at Fleming's Jamaica estate and commissioned to write a James Bond novella to coincide with the coronation of King Charles.

As the go-to figure to comment on James Bond news, this is Charlie's vision of what a modern day Bond looks like. He's read every Fleming novel and understands what people want from Bond — from ingenious gadgets to a mysterious and terrible villain to a world threatening conspiracy — and has imagined every element in the modern day. The result is a blockbusting, cinematic, jet-setting read with the theme of power at its heart: who has it, what it looks like in the age of self-driving cars and AI, and what it would look like if the balance of power was threatened on a fundamental level...

It starts with a murdered agent in the Saudi desert. Only a traitor could have known enough to bring him down. But even James Bond can’t guess at the secret that was worth killing him to keep. As Bond follows the trail across the globe, he doesn’t realise the countdown has already begun. And hiding in the shadows is a man with more power than Bond could ever have imagined. Prepare for a villain unlike any before. Prepare for King Zero.
